Neighborhood Safety

For Emergencies Dial: 9-1-1

Dog Leash Law (City Ordinance)
All dogs must be leashed when off your property. Leashes may not exceed six feet in length. Animal Control has the right to quarantine any dog that attacks, and can seize any dog found at large—even briefly. Fines range from $25–$100 for running at large, and up to $1,500 if a dog bites someone. Please also clean up after your pet promptly (within one hour).

Emergency Preparedness

  • Create a family emergency plan: know escape routes, meeting points, and how to shut off utilities.

  • Keep a 3-day supply kit with water, food, medications, and important documents.

  • Install smoke alarms on every floor and test them twice a year.

  • Keep a fire extinguisher accessible in your home.

  • Pets are not allowed in human shelters—make separate arrangements in case of evacuation.
